Come From Away Auditions

Come From Away is a powerful ensemble musical based on the true story of 7,000 stranded travelers welcomed into Gander, Newfoundland after 9/11. As fear and uncertainty spread, the people of Gander responded with kindness, generosity, and compassion. This production focuses on human connection, resilience, and the impact of community in times of crisis.

Audition Details
Date: Saturday, May 16
Time: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM (scheduled time slots)
Location: Atlantic Beach Performance Space

Auditions are by appointment only.
You must complete the audition form to be considered. Selected applicants will be contacted via email with a scheduled audition time.
Who We’re Looking For
This is an ensemble-driven production where every performer plays multiple roles.
- 6 male-identifying and 6 female-identifying actors
- Ages 20–70 (must be 18+)
- Strong singers with the ability to blend in an ensemble
- Ability to read music is required
- Confident actors who can shift between characters seamlessly
- Ability to perform accents (Newfoundland, Canadian, American)
- No formal dance experience required, but movement ability is a plus
- All ethnicities, backgrounds, and experience levels are encouraged to audition
We are looking for performers who bring authenticity, emotional intelligence, and strong character work to the stage.
What to Prepare
Singing
Prepare a song in its entirety. This may be from the show if you choose. Choose something that highlights your vocal range and storytelling ability.
Important:
If auditioning for Beverley or Hannah, prepare Me and the Sky in its entirety.
Acting
Prepare a 1-minute monologue, performed two different ways using two different accents. We are looking for versatility and your ability to embody multiple characters.
Movement
You will be taught a short group movement combination during auditions. This portion is more about potential than precision, so bring energy and be ready to participate.

Your audition will be recorded for casting review
A bluetooth speaker and phone connection will be available
You will be notified if callbacks are required
Final cast will be contacted by phone on May 17
Unsuccessful auditionees will be notified by email

Important Commitment Note
Full availability is required for all rehearsals, tech week, and performances.
If you have conflicts, your role may be understudied.
Understudies will perform all matinee shows.
Content Notice
This production centers on the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
While no violence is shown, the script includes:
- References to tragedy, loss, and missing persons
- Racism (including Islamophobia and racial profiling)
- Mild to strong language
- Alcohol use
- Death of an animal
